Ruth M. Hanenberger of Hoffman died Monday, August 18, 2008 at St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Breese at the age of 81 years. Ruth was born in
Lake Township/Clinton County on April 4, 1927, the daughter of Theodore
and Ida (Grefe) Wessel.
Ruth is survived by two daughters: Sandy
Hohman and husband Don of Hoffman and Gloria Hitpas and husband Brian of
Posey; one son: Gary Hanenberger and wife Ellen of Bassett, Wisconsin;
nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; one sister: Hilda
Armstrong of Pontiac, Illinois; and four brothers: Leroy Wessel and wife
Gladys of Hoffman, Elmer Wessel of Collinsville, Theodore Wessel, Jr.
and wife Rosalie of Ferna Beach, Florida and Wayne Wessel and wife Lola
of Carlyle; a sister-n-law and brother-in-law: Evelyn Wessel of Carlyle
and Leroy Mensing of Hoffman.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents,
sisters: Marcella Mensing, Amanda Monken and Dorothy Lyman; and
brothers: Edwin Wessel, Alfred Wessel, Irvin Wessel and Gilbert Wessel.
Ruth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran
Church in Hoffman and had worked at the Wee Walker Shoe Company in
Carlyle.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August
20, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman with
Pastor Stephen Krenz officiating. The interment will follow at the
Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker
Funeral Home in Carlyle on Tuesday from 4 to 8:00 P.M. or on Wednesday
at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman from 10:00 A.M. until the time
of services.
