| Vera Leone King of Carlyle died Friday, August 29, 2008 at the
Carlyle Healthcare Center at the age of 94 years. She was born in
Oskaloosa Township, Clay County, Illinois on September 18, 1913 the
daughter of Alvin and Mary (Eckhoff) King.
Leone attended McKendree
College in Lebanon, Illinois and later operated a beauty shop in Breese
for many years before retiring. She was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Carlyle, Clinton County Farm Bureau, Carlyle
Senior Citizens and had served for many years on boards with the
Southwest Illinois Agency on Aging. Leone is survived by cousins,
a niece and nephew and many friends.
Funeral services
will be Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United
Methodist Church in Carlyle with Rev. Keith Michaels officiating. The
interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit
with the family at the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle on
Tuesday from 9 to 11:00 A.M.
Expressions of
sympathy may be made in Leone’s memory to the First United Methodist
Church or to the Carlyle Senior Citizens Center, and those will be
