Ann
Rose Cotton of Carlyle died Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Carlyle
Healthcare Center at the age of 77 years. She was born on May 22, 1932
in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the daughter of O. B. and Edna (Melton)
Cotton.
Ann is survived by a son: Beau Cotton and wife Leann of
Carlyle; two grandsons: Ethan and Jacob Cotton; and two cousins: Vicki
Morrow of Gainesville, Texas and David Thomas of Claremore, Oklahoma.
Ann retired from the Carlyle Unit 1 School system in
1994 after 30 years of service. She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Carlyle where she served as the Music Director for
many years, a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and
had served on the Carlyle Cemetery Board.
Ann helped organize and served as the director of the
1st Christmas Cantada in Carlyle. During her teaching career with the
Carlyle School system she organized many singing groups, including the
Cotton Pickers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday,
August 22, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in
Carlyle with Rev. Keith Michaels officiating. In keeping with Ann’s
wishes, private family committal services were held Wednesday at the
Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the First United
Methodist Church in Carlyle on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 9 to 11:00
A.M.
Memorial are suggested Heartland Hospice or to the
First United Methodist Church and those will be received at the Frerker
Funeral Home in Carlyle which is serving the family.
